Welcome to part 2 of our “Meet the Teacher” series! Today we are excited to introduce you to Peter, one of our French teachers. Without further ado, commençons!

What is your name? My name is Petar.

What languages do you teach? I teach French.

How long have you been teaching? I started teaching three years ago, and I joined the UpVerb team a little over a month ago.

What is your favorite place in the world? My favorite place in the world (for now) is, as cliché as it sounds, Paris. To me, it is the most beautiful city with a huge historical background and a dynamic way of life.

What is the best moment you’ve ever had while teaching? My best moment while teaching was probably receiving drawings from young students in primary school as a thank you for teaching them.

One of the best ways to learn a new language is through media. Can you recommend some movies, podcasts, or books that would help language learners learn French? In order to learn French, I would recommend to watch movies like “Untouchables,” “La Haine,” “Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au bon Dieu?,” and “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain ou Un prophète.” I would also recommend to listen to the radio stations France Bleu, FIP, and France Culture. Some podcasts are available on France Radio’s website. As for books, I would have different recommendations depending on the level of the student, but a must read is “Le Petit Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
